BITSAT 2026 FAQ: 25 most-asked questions, answered

BITSAT 2026 has 130 base questions in the main section, with an optional 12-question bonus round if you finish base with time remaining. Maximum total: 142 questions. Scoring is +3 correct, −1 incorrect.

Base section: 390 marks (130 × 3). With full bonus: 426 marks (142 × 3). Most admission cutoffs are reported on the 390-base scale.

May 24, 25, and 26, 2026. The window is fixed; your specific date and slot are assigned by BITS based on registration.

Yes. You can appear for both. The better score from your two attempts is used for admission (not averaged). Many students sit Session 1 to baseline, then sit Session 2 to improve.

Once you complete all 130 base questions, you can opt into a 12-question bonus round: 3 each from Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology, and Logical Reasoning. English Proficiency does NOT have bonus questions. The bonus is one-way - you can't return to base after starting it.

−1 for incorrect answers. Unanswered questions = 0. This makes pure guessing negative-EV. Skip if you don't know; educated-guess only after eliminating at least one option.

Yes. 12th-pass in 2025 or 2026 are both eligible. The dropper status itself is not a disqualifier.

Not by default. If you took an improvement exam in 2026 to raise your marks while keeping pass status, you become eligible. Otherwise, no.

75% aggregate in PCM (or PCB for B.Pharm. PCB), with at least 60% in each individual subject. Plus a pass in 12th English.

JEE Main typically yields more seats (NIT/IIIT system). BITSAT yields fewer but often more selective seats (BITS Pilani is considered alongside top NITs). Most aspirants take both - BITSAT preparation is highly transferable from JEE Main + adds English + LR.

Single session: ₹3,600 (M) / ₹3,100 (F). Both sessions: ₹5,600 (M) / ₹4,600 (F). If you registered for Session 1 only and want to add Session 2, the upgrade fee is ₹2,000.

Results are usually released within 1–2 weeks of each session window closing. So Session 1 (May 19–23) results come early June; Session 2 (May 24–26) results come early-mid June.

Counselling is iteration-based: you submit campus + program preferences, then BITS allots seats in successive rounds based on rank. The first iteration runs late June. Iteration 2, 3, 4 run through July as students confirm or decline.

Yes. BITSAT is administered as a CBT in many test centres across India and a few international centres (Dubai, Sharjah). You select your preferred centre during application; final allocation is based on availability.

Aim for at least 8–10 full-length 3-hour mocks if you have 2+ months. With 26 days to Session 2, prioritise quality over quantity - 6–8 full-length mocks plus subject-specific timed sessions for weak areas.

Largely yes - Physics + Chemistry + Maths overlap with JEE Main. BITSAT adds English Proficiency + Logical Reasoning. Biology (for B.Pharm. PCB) is roughly NEET-syllabus level.

No age limit. Eligibility is purely based on 12th pass-year + percentage requirements.

B.E. is a 4-year engineering degree. Integrated M.Sc. (Hons) at BITS is a 5-year program covering subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Chemistry, Biology. Cutoffs for M.Sc. (Hons) tend to be ~10–20 points lower than B.E. CSE in the same campus.

Yes - BITS allows internal transfer at the end of first year, subject to first-year CGPA performance and seat availability. The transfer process is competitive but real.
